The Beat Music Series is a monthly poetry and live music event held at Silvana every second Tuesday of the month, 8PM-10PM. The two-hour set promises to feature an eclectic mix of hip hop, jazz, soul, poetry, folk, and spoken word artists. The event is hosted by composer/producer Eric Joseph Meyer and poet/emcee Melissa Czarnik. The Beat Music Series is presented by Hyperdrive Motivator Productions, an engaged media company whose mission is to promote diversity, equality and empowerment through music and film.

LIBBY MISLAN is a performance poet who draws inspiration from nature, social issues, the body, folk tales and other human stories. Improvisational dancers often bring her words to life through the language of movement, creating an experience for the viewer that engages mind and body. She is currently working on her MFA at Vermont College of Fine Arts and was recently awarded artist grants to develop interdisciplinary performance work with Queens Council on the Arts and Brooklyn Arts Council. Through developing work inspired by theme-based research, centralizing the role of community in the artistic process, playing with the rhythm and musicality of words, and collaborating with musicians and dancers, Libby wishes to develop and push the boundaries of the poetic experience.

ARI FOLMAN-COHEN creates a solo bass experience that mixes improvisation that melds with compositions, leading through dreamy soundscapes, creating moments that pull you in and out of trance.

MELISSA CZARNIK (Zar-nik) defies category with her genre blending approach to hip hop and spoken word. Her soulful and melodic flow captivates listeners with intricate lyricism and heartfelt storytelling. She performs with a live band made up of Eric Joseph Meyer (keys), Ryan Ramirez (drums), Sam Neufeld (trumpet), Ari Folman-Cohen (bass) and Ali Carter (backing vocals).

UNDERGROUND MANTRA’S (UGM) sound is rooted in Psychedelic Rock with a Funky Hip-Hop Fusion. The duo of Tyler Schwartzman and Carmine Mattia materialized at the age of 13, writing songs and experimenting after school. As time went on the partnership grew, and after attending Berklee College of Music refinining their sound, the duo finds themsleves relocated to NYC. UnderGround Mantra is currently releasing a 4 track EP entitled “Before the Swell” which is the sonic representation of the journey for success we are all on. UGM is an idea created with an intention to put listeners into a state of meditation while connecting to both the dark and light sides of the world we live in.

To be considered as a future performer, please submit your band name, genre of music, short bio, and links to your music, YouTube and website to with “Beat Music Series” in the subject line.
