The Beat Music Series is a monthly poetry and live music event held at Silvana every second Tuesday of the month, 8PM-10PM. The two-hour set promises to feature an eclectic mix of hip hop, jazz, soul, poetry, folk, and spoken word artists. The event is hosted by composer/producer Eric Joseph Meyer and poet/emcee Melissa Czarnik. The Beat Music Series is presented by Hyperdrive Motivator Productions, an engaged media company whose mission is to promote diversity, equality and empowerment through music and film.

FIFE AND DROM is the musical brainchild of husband and wife team MarkMarshall and Abby Ahmad. Their name pays tribute to fife and drum blues music, a highly influential genre which emerged from Mississippi, the heart of Delta blues, as well as a nod to the dutch word “drom”, meaning “a group moving together with purpose”. Their debut album, “Introducing Fife & Drom” garnered international praise for its modern take on classic blues. They’ve been honored by the Independent Music Awards and named as one of the “Best of NYC’s Indie Music Scene” by Arena Music. They are currently working on their sophomore album scheduled for release in 2018.

MELISSA CZARNIK (Zar-nik) defies category with her genre blending approach to hip hop and spoken word. Her soulful and melodic flow captivates listeners with intricate lyricism and heartfelt storytelling. She performs with a live band made up of Eric Joseph Meyer (keys), Ryan Ramirez (drums), Sam Neufeld (trumpet), Ari Folman-Cohen (bass) and Ali Carter (backing vocals).

Her latest album Rainbow Skies (HMP, 2017) is available on iTunes, Spotify and BandCamp!

ERIC JOSEPH MEYER is a New York City based composer, producer and pianist who recently completed his Masters in Music Composition at NYU. Meyer’s music is authentic and unaffected with a lively, soulful and emotive depth of expression. Without apology, Meyer remains true to his musical core while combining elements of hip hop, jazz and the downtown school of composition into his distinctive musical voice.
