The Beat Music Series is a monthly poetry and live music event held at Silvana every second Tuesday of the month, 8PM-10PM. The two-hour set promises to feature an eclectic mix of hip hop, jazz, soul, poetry, folk, and spoken word artists. The event is hosted by composer/producer Eric Joseph Meyer and poet/emcee Melissa Czarnik. The Beat Music Series is presented by Hyperdrive Motivator Productions, an engaged media company whose mission is to promote diversity, equality and empowerment through music and film.

Improv duo JOE TUCKER & ADAM CUTHBERT have created live scores for contemporary dance and experimental theatre since 2013, and as part of Brooklyn three-piece band New York Public Library. Tucker’s limitless physical energy on the drum kit combines with the dense harmonic landscapes of Cuthbert’s cyborg amplified trumpet to create fluidly morphing yet grounded grooves, drawing inspiration from the unhinged downtown dance scene. Together they have performed at La MaMa, Roulette, Hunter College, Make Music New York, and myriad venues around Brooklyn.

MELISSA CZARNIK (Zar-nik) defies category with her genre blending approach to hip hop and spoken word. Her soulful and melodic flow captivates listeners with intricate lyricism and heartfelt storytelling. She performs with a live band made up of Eric Joseph Meyer (keys), Ryan Ramirez (drums), Sam Neufeld (trumpet), Ari Folman-Cohen (bass) and Ali Carter (backing vocals). Her latest album Rainbow Skies (HMP, 2017) is available on iTunes, Spotify and BandCamp!

WARREN BRITT has always been the type of person to earn what he is after. It makes theexperience of actually achieving the goal a lot more meaningful. Born and Raised in Brooklyn, New York in a seperated household, Warren Samuel Britt adapted to expressing himself through poetry. A natural bond with words formed and coincided with his love of Hip-Hop. Influenced by LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Nas, Def Squad, and 2Pac, he began to transfer his appreciation of words into rap songs. He recently released his new album, With Laurel. available on digital platforms worldwide.

ERIC JOSEPH MEYER is a New York City based composer, producer and pianist who recently completed his Masters in Music Composition at NYU. He is the co-host of the Beat Music Series and producer/arranger for poet & emcee, Melissa Czarnik’s Band. Meyer’s compositions are authentic and unaffected with a lively, soulful and jazz infused depth of expression. Without apology, Meyer remains true to his musical core while combining elements of hip hop, improvisation and the downtown school of composition into his distinctive musical voice.
