Melissa Czarnik was featured at the Green Mill in Chicago at their Uptown Poetry Slam. This is a live version of her song, “Bedtime Stories” which had not yet then been released. It is a rare track and inside look at Czarnik’s energetically fueled live performance.

Melissa CzarnikEach verse in the song is dedicated to a different female that Czarnik finds empowering: Nefertiti, Gertrude Stein, and Ella Baker. Feel free to download and share with friends. As Czarnik states, “your daughter’s favorite story, play it for her at bedtime.”

Bedtime Stories the album version, can be found on Raspberry Jesus (Hyperdrive Motivator Productions) and is available on iTunes, Spotify and through CD Baby.

The band features: Eric Meyer (guitar), Maurice Cotton (keys), Chip Baily aka Terence Pettigrew (drums), and Don Bradshaw (congas).

This was one of my favorite albums to make.   Raspberry Jesus is full of vocal layerings, energies, and stars some of the best improvisational jazz cats from Milwaukee.

The album was produced by Eric Meyer, my fav, and earned recognition from Bust Magazine, NPR, Anattitude Magazine among others.

It’s available in full on iTunes and Spotify.

Or you can download a sampler of some of the best tracks for just $5 on bandcamp.  Holler!
