If you didn’t already know, I also make films, music videos, etc…
I am currently taking my first go at a short narrative called, Significant One starring @joelakamag and @lynettewmusic …
Significant One – Synopsis: Chicago born singer and recent New York transplant, Maya serendipitously befriends New York born, after school theatre teacher, Simon on the subway train. What starts off as a brief interaction turns into something more intimate when the two discover they have much more in common than a t-shirt Simon is wearing. Follow the two through a walk in Central Park, a comical surprise visit by a homeless couple and an opportunity for true love that relies on the will of the human heart. Is it a connection for a lifetime, or is it just another fleeting moment between two strangers.
Call for crew: I’m still in need of some help onset. If you are interested please write mc@melissaczarnik.com
Have you heard my third album yet? It’s called Non Merci, not “Non Mercy,” but pronounced “No Mare C” in English, meaning “No Thanks.”
The meaning comes from all of the things in the world that you sometimes just want to say “Non Merci” to. It’s deep, as some of the album can get, but the majority of it is actually fun and playful, with satire about “The Fool Who” stole my car (a true story), or a love letter being passed back and forth between France and America in “If You Love.”
Non Merci was written and recorded in Marnay-sur-Seine, France at Centre d’Art Marnay Art Centre in just a two month period. It is one of the most magical places in the world. If you can’t get there by plane, I suggest you take a listen to the album, as I have captured the essence pretty well. And I am forever indebted to those of you that supported my residency through Indiegogo … You know who you are. Thank you! And special thanks to Eric Meyer for sending me beats for two months and for joining me overseas in the last weeks.
Non Merci is available digitally on Bandcamp, iTunes, and Spotify.
